Cranberry Gin and Tonic
A summertime classic with a twist! With a few simple additions to this already tasty drink, you’re tailoring the taste for an even more summery tipple.
- 100g cranberries
- A few sprigs of rosemary
- 1 lime
- Ice cubes
- 100ml gin
- Take the cranberries and in a bowl and give them a bit of a smash just to break them slightly.
- Add ice, 2 lime wedges and a few rosemary sprigs into two glasses. Divide the cranberries between the glasses.
- Add 50ml of gin to each glass (this is a double but if you want it a little weaker just add 25ml per glass).
- Top up with tonic and serve straight away.
The Paloma Picante
A tangy tequila-based cocktail made using an American style IPA known as habanero nectar. Both ingredients are beautifully combined with refreshing grapefruit juice.
- 50ml tequila
- 30ml habanero nectar
- 85ml grapefruit soda
- 4 cubes ruby red grapefruit
- Muddle the grapefruit juice in a highball glass.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and crushed ice.
- Then top with a splash of grapefruit soda.
- Finish with a sprig of mint and lemon peel.
This drink skips sugary triple sec, instead, gaining its flavour from fresh lime juice, agave syrup, orange zest, and mint.
- Juice of 15 limes (about 2 cups)
- 1 c. añejo tequila
- c. dark agave syrup
- 1/4 tsp. dark agave syrup
- 6 strip orange zest
- 12 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
- 34 ice cubes
- In a large pitcher, combine lime juice, tequila, and agave syrup. Rub each old-fashioned glass rim with 1 orange zest strip, then place zest in the glass. Put 1/4 teaspoon agave in a small bowl, and combine mint and salt on a small plate. Dip your finger in syrup and rub along glass rims. Dip glasses in mint-salt mixture to coat rims. Put 4 ice cubes in each glass.
- Place 5 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Pour half the lime-tequila mixture into shaker and shake vigorously. Pour into 3 glasses. Repeat with remaining ice cubes and lime-tequila mixture.
Watermelon Tequila Cocktails
There’s nothing quite as thirst quenching as a watermelon based drink. Combining all of the good things such as tequila, sugar syrup, blueberries, mint and fresh lime juice – this one’s going to be a favourite.
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 8 cups diced seedless watermelon (1 pound)
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 3/4 cups blueberries
- 3/4 cup lightly packed fresh mint leaves, plus 8 sprigs for garnish
- 1 1/4 cups silver tequila
- In a small saucepan, bring the water to a simmer with the sugar and stir over moderate heat until the sugar is dissolved. Let the sugar syrup cool.
- In a blender, puree the watermelon until smooth. Set a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl and strain the watermelon juice, pressing gently on the solids to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
- In a large pitcher, combine the sugar syrup with the lime juice, blueberries and mint leaves. Using a wooden spoon, lightly muddle the blueberries and mint. Add the watermelon juice and tequila. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours.
- Pour the cocktail into tall ice-filled glasses. Garnish with the mint sprigs and serve.
Floral with a hint of fruit and bergamot – that’s Summer Blossom, full of the hopes and flavours of the early warm months.
- 40ml gin
- 20ml Sauvignon Blanc
- 20ml cloudy apple juice
- 15ml Earl Grey syrup
- 1sprig elderflower
- Fill a shaker with ice.
- Add the gin with a spot of elderflower, Sauvignon Blanc, cloudy apple juice and Earl Grey syrup.
- Using a jigger, measure 40ml gin with a spot of elderflower, 20ml Sauvignon Blanc, 20ml cloudy apple juice and 15ml Earl Grey syrup into the shaker.
- Shake until cold.
- Shake the mixture vigorously in the cocktail shaker until the surface of the shaker feels chilled.
- Strain into a long glass.
- Strain the liquid into a glass through both a cocktail strainer and sieve. This is to remove any trace of ice or solids, and is a technique known as ‘double straining’.
- Garnish with elderflower.
- Place a sprig of elderflower on top of the drink to garnish.
